The Hawaii Line Dance Festival was originally a 1 night event and was called the Kauai Line Dancers’ Retreat in 2015 & 2016 (2017 was skipped). In 2018 line dancers from Hawaii Island (Big Island), and O’ahu attended the Kauai Line Dancers’ Retreat. Due to multiple islands joining this 1 night event in 2018, it was announced that the event would be reorganized into the Hawaii Line Dance Festival for 2019 and would be a 2 day event.
And so started my personal dream of bringing in named choreographers to the island of Kauai. The 2019 Hawaii Line Dance Festival would not have been possible without the support of the many volunteers and neighbor island dancers who came to attend. But, most importantly it would not have happened without the support of my “Line Dancing God Parents” who to this day wish to remain anonymous. They helped sponsor the festival by funding the cost to bring Joanne Brady for our inaugural festival. Another individual whom I would like to personally thank is Derek Ibaan of Ibaan Table Rentals. From the start, he has provided all of our logistical equipment from the sound system, tables, benches, dance floor, tents, and much much more. I am forever indebted to them!
